MSI Raider GE67 HX (2022) Laptop Review

High-end gaming laptops are like the MSI Raider GE67 HX (2022). It replaces the MSI Raider GE66 and is in MSI’s laptop lineup between the lower-end Katana GF series and the top-end Titan GT series. It looks and has almost the same features as its predecessor because most of the changes are on the inside. It has Intel 12th Gen. HX CPUs and faster NVIDIA 30-series GPUs, such as the RTX 3070 Ti, 3080, and 3080 Ti. Unlike the GE66, this new model only has one display option: a 240Hz QHD OLED panel with full DCI P3 coverage but no variable refresh rate.

Style

The MSI Raider GE67 HX is made with gamers in mind. It has a dark grey chassis with sharp edges, an RGB light bar on the front, and the MSI logo and name in silver on the lid. There are more red logos on the bottom. The back and bottom of the laptop have air vents, and there are ports on both sides and the back. The speakers are near the front on the sides.

Build Quality

The MSI Raider GE67 HX is very well made. The chassis is made of both plastic and metal. It feels very sturdy, and the display and keyboard deck hardly move at all. The finish isn’t too easy to scratch, but it’s easy to get oil and fingerprints on it. Stickers on the keyboard deck are hard to take off and can leave a mark. This is a minor issue with the way it looks. The feet feel solid and stick well to the bottom of the laptop. The whole thing is heavy, and the weight is spread out evenly.

Hinge

The hinge is really good. It feels solid and smooth, and it doesn’t move at all. The laptop is hard to open, but you can still do it with one hand. This gives it a high-end feel. Even when typing quickly, the screen doesn’t shake.

Portability

Our Verdict

Gaming

The MSI Raider GE67 HX is a great gaming computer. It has an OLED screen that shows clear images even when things are moving quickly, and its CPU and GPU can push high frame rates in games that are hard to play. It also has a comfortable keyboard, and its ports are great. There are Ethernet ports and USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, among others. It gets hot and loud when it’s being used, and even though the memory and SSD can be changed by the user, it’s hard to get to them.

Multimedia

The MSI Raider GE67 HX is good for watching movies and TV shows. Its OLED screen can get bright enough to get rid of glare in most situations. It also has deep blacks and clear motion. It also covers all of DCI P3, which means it can be used to watch HDR content. But the laptop is big and hard to carry around, and the battery only lasts less than five hours when watching videos. Also, the speakers sound artificial and boxy.

Workstation

The MSI Raider GE67 HX is a great workstation computer. Its CPU and GPU can handle almost any kind of work, like editing videos and making 3D graphics. It has a sharp OLED display with full DCI P3 coverage, a comfortable keyboard, a fast SSD for quick file transfers, and a wide range of ports, including HDMI 2.1 and USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports. But when it’s being used, it gets hot and loud, and even though the memory and storage can be changed, they’re hard to get to.

Business

The MSI Raider GE67 HX can be used for work. It has a 15.6-inch screen that gives you plenty of room to do multiple things at once. It also has a comfortable keyboard that you can use for long periods of time and a lot of ports for accessories and external displays. Its CPU is more than powerful enough to handle work-related tasks like text processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. If you need to edit videos, it also has a high-end GPU. But it’s big and hard to carry around, and its battery only lasts about five hours with light use.

Pros

  • CPU and GPU can handle demanding workloads.
  • Minimal performance loss under load.
  • Keyboard feels great to type on.
  • High-refresh screen displays clear image.
  • User-replaceable memory and storage.
  • Wide port selection.
